COUNTY TAX PAYER’S NOTICE
The 2023 County tax bills will be mailed out during the last week of September. The bills will be due and payable beginning October 02, 2023. If you do not receive your bill, please contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at (859) 498-8704. When mailing in your payment, please include your copy of the tax bill or put the bill number on your check. If you wish a paid receipt returned to you, please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope. If your bill is paid by a mortgage company, or previous owner, please forward the bill to the responsible party for prompt payment. The following are the collection dates:
2% Discount 10/01/2023 – 11/01/2023
Face Amount 11/02/2023 – 12/31/2023
5% Penalty 01/01/2024 – 01/31/2024
10% Penalty + 02/01/2024 – 04/15/2024

Important Note:
Payments made during the 10% penalty period but prior to the bills being transferred to the county clerk’s office, are subject to an additional 10% sheriff’s fee. Under the provisions of House Bill 262, the advertisement and sale of delinquent property tax bills has been transferred from the Sheriff’s Office to the County Clerk’s Office. Under this provision the Sheriff’s Office will no longer be responsible for the advertising or sale of delinquent taxes. All delinquent taxes will be transferred to the County Clerk’s Office as of the close of business on April 15, 2024. In addition to the penalties and fees that are applied by the Sheriff’s Office, all payments made on the County Clerk’s Office are subject to a 20% County Attorney’s fee, and a 10% County Clerk’s fee and interest at 1% per month. The delinquency is also subject to being sold to a Third Party in the summer of 2024 by the County Clerk if the delinquent bill is not paid.
